On December 6, 2023, the Global Student Government held its 3rd Legislative Assembly online. GSG member student governments from around the world attended and voted on consequential proposals on the future of student government at the international level.
Among the motions was a proposal was to revise GSG membership fee structures, eliminating both the opt-in and the 1 Euro/student/year options to replace it with an annual fee of 100 Euros/year for an entire student government to join. GSG members decided to hold the vote by correspondence to allow more time for deliberation, and by December 23rd, the vote had passed.
GSG members will have until the start of the 4th Legislative Assembly to pay membership fees under the new system to maintain membership in the GSG.
A vote to ratify official minutes from the 3rd GSG Legislative Assembly will take place at the next Legislative Assembly.
